On January 11, 2011 no more plastic bags will be issued by stores at point of sale.  But you don't have to wait until then.  Keep your reusable grocery bag in the car and remember to bring it with you when you shop.  You'll save money, oil, and wildlife!  And you won't contribute to this ugly sight:

The enormous suspended area of trash - which consists of 80 percent plastics and weighs some 3.5 million tons - floats in a no-man's land between San Francisco and Hawaii. It kills fish and birds.
